All of our projects share a clear focus on applied research and technical assistance that reflects equity and diversity issues within schools.
The New York Comprehensive Center (NYCC) is one of 16 regional comprehensive centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education to support state education agencies in fulfilling the promises of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Headquartered in New York City under the leadership of RMC Research, NYCC is a partnership that includes the Alliance, Education Development Center, and Learning Innovations at WestEd. The mission of the NYCC is to develop the capacity of the New York State Education Department and its networks and agencies to assist districts and schools in improving achievement outcomes for all students.
As a partner in the Comprehensive Center work, we work with the center's senior management to provide research and technical assistance to the initiatives requested by the state. We provide capacity building technical assistance in adolescent literacy, teacher quality, improving the achievement of English language learners, using technology to support teaching and learning, and increasing parental knowledge qf No Child Left Behind. The Alliance designed, developed, hosts and maintains the NYCC Web site, and is also implementing an online collaboration site to support selected work with the state education agency.
