MABE's Institute for Practitioners of Diverse Learners: "Current Approaches in Special Education and Dual Language Education"

The theme of the 2008 Massachusetts Association for Bilingual Education (MABE) one-day institute, held on March 7, 2008 in Leominster, Massachusetts, is "Current Approaches in Special Education and Dual Language Education." The special education strand in this institute focuses on two overlooked, yet critical, factors reflecting the complexities in the referral and placement process of English Language Learners: authentic parental involvement and culturally responsive assessment practices. The dual language program strand focuses on assessment and instructional practices within a bilingual/biliterate context. The New England Equity Assistance Center at Brown University is co-sponsoring this MABE event. For more detailed information about this conference, please download the conference flyer.
