Activity Description:

Teacher models use of present tense verb endings by describing his/her routine daily activities, demonstrating verb endings. Students listen to teacher's description, taking notes.

Students then write their own journal entries about their own daily routines.

Individual students read their entries aloud to a small group, who take notes, using the 3rd person verb endings. Groups then jigsaw. Students read what they wrote about their peer to the new group, who ask questions for clarification.

Students then revise their narratives, individually, based on peer feedback.

Assessment: Students receive feedback on their entries from peers in the form of questions. Teacher collects and evaluates finished entries using a scoring rubric.
How Activity embodies the Framework:

Selective listening. Students listen to each other.
Summarizing. Students re-tell narratives.
Monitoring production. Students revise their written work.
Peer interaction. Students share their work with others, and ask questions for clarification.
